I get so much inspiration from traveling — seeing how other people live, the colors and textures they use, and the way spaces are designed all over the world. I also love podcasts — I probably listen to three a day. Business, design, personal growth — anything that helps me level up in my work and life.

Let’s be honest — I’m probably still thinking about work. I love what I do, and I’m constantly coming up with new ideas, dreaming about projects, and planning what’s next. But when I do take a break, I’m usually traveling, visiting my family in Ohio, or doing what I love most — being on the water, I’m happiest outside. I also love live music — Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, James Taylor, Jimmy Buffett. Give me oldies and classic rock, and I’m in my happy place.

My favorite way to unwind? A boat day, cooking a really good meal, rolling out my yoga mat, or treating myself to a pedicure. I love slow mornings with a coffee in hand — it’s my reset button before jumping into the day. I tend to be less social when I relax — I need that quiet time to clear my head, let ideas flow, and completely recharge.

Before Merritt Design Co. came to life, my career looked very different. I spent over a decade in corporate America, managing multimillion-dollar projects for Fortune 500 companies and leading teams through complex, high-stakes engagements in cybersecurity consulting. It was a world of precision, process, and big-picture thinking - and it taught me how to bring order, clarity, and calm to even the most intricate projects.
That foundation now anchors everything I do in design. Because creating a home isn’t so different from managing a major project, it’s about earning trust, navigating details and continuous change, and delivering something that feels effortless in the end.
But design has always been the through line of my life. From rearranging my childhood bedroom to sketching dream floor plans for friends, I’ve always believed that our spaces shape how we live and feel. Over time, that belief evolved into a mission: to help others create homes that tell their story with intention and ease.
Today, I blend the strategy of my corporate past with the soul of my creative work - crafting spaces that feel grounded, functional, and deeply personal. Yes, for renovations and remodels we only work with licensed general contractors. Merritt Design Co. coordinates closely with your GC throughout construction to make sure the design is executed exactly as planned, while the contractor is responsible for hiring and managing subcontractors, vendors, and construction timelines.
